  After buying the earrings I waited a month and bought the matching sterling, gold and saphire pendant. I love Art Deco designs and this one is classic. The sides and face are all delicately designed with angular lines and the silver looks as though it was produced by a real craftsman. The chain has some delicate and beautiful stops. I am very pleased and glad I made the purchase. The package was double boxed, making it damage proof.   Although the book is called Art Deco Complete you should know that the editorial is really focused on the European fine art aspects of this wonderfully exuberant style. It doesn't cover architecture or the way the style was used for commercial products. Having said that I found the book a fascinating overview of Deco. Duncan has written several books on the style and this huge volume probably has much taken from all of these. His book covers the style in the US where he does include architecture, graphics and commercial products.The book is in two sections: Media and Masters with sections on: Furniture and Interiors; Sculpture; Paintings, Graphics, Posters, Bookbinding; Glass; Ceramics; Lighting; Silver, Metal, Lacquer, Enamel; Jewelry.   Art Deco Complete: The Definitive Guide to the Decorative Arts of the 1920s and 1930s is overflowing with wonderful pictures, and a represents a wealth of accurate digestible knowledge for anyone interested in the period. However the title "Complete" is a misnomer, and book completely omits of exterior architecture. I can't tell you why the author left out some of the most iconic and easily identifiable Art Deco structures worldwide, but the exclusion is a noticeable even to the most casual reader.   This ring is incredibly gorgeous, especially for the price I paid for it ($112.99).It looks high quality with no visible imperfections. The sterling silver is flawless and the sapphires are cut very nicely. It sparkles really well. The sizing is accurate, I wear a 6 1/2 on my ring finger and the size 7 was slightly too large, but it fit alright on my middle finger. The ring is a decent size, large enough to draw attention, but not big enough to appear gaudy or feel heavy. I expected it to snag on things (like my clothing & gloves), but it actually doesn't at all.I'm absolutely in love with this ring.   This lamp is just what I was looking for. We needed a small lamp to put on a hall table to provide enough light at night so we don't have to use the overhead hall lights. I wanted something in the Art Deco style with a tasteful nude. I feel this must be a reproduction of an original piece, and it is a good one. The picture does not do the lamp justice, because you have to see the globe lit up to get the full effect.   I thought this was going to be really pretty... I had no idea how amazing it looks in person. I converted our guest room into a mystery-lover's/Agatha Christie reading room for my wife. All deco and 1920's looking. And this lamp is PERFECT! It's the perfect size for a bookshelf or console table and it is stunning. The photo doesn't do it justice. It isn't as "golden" or "copper-ish" as the photo indicates. It's more subtle. A cross between worn bronze and pewter. The angles are sharp and defined and have the amazing economy of line the 1920's are so well known for. My wife was in tears (of joy) when she saw the room. She too was blown away by this lamp...   I bought this for my sister who was floored by it, and she really is very picky about what goes into her home. So to see her light up when we opened up the package was great.Being an internet purchase you're not always sure you made the right call, but this was one of those internet purchases that could not have worked out better.The lamp looks better than the photo here and actually puts out a little more light than you might expect, plus it looks like and has the feel of real bronze. The detail is clean and the lines are perfect I can only imagine what the cost of an original lamp in this design.I have to say by looking you cannot tell it's a Bronze Resin Powder Cast lamp, it looks like a piece from the era and you will get remarks on it.   A sumptuous coffee-table book of this exuberant art style and I think it could well become the standard book on the subject. The forty essays are divided into four sections, Sources and Iconography, 1925 Paris Exhibition, Spread of Deco and finally Deco World, and I liked the way, especially in Sources and Iconography, that the authors explain how various art styles were moulded into deco art which culminated in the very influential 1925 Paris show.I thought the last two sections were a fascinating coverage of how Art Deco spread around the world, mainly as architecture and fashion, though in Europe also as a fine art style. In North America, it influenced a huge range of commercial products. Perhaps this was the only art form that was truly democratic in that it was available (as streamlining) to be seen or bought on any Main Street across the Nation.The design and printing are excellent.   This book is an absolute triumph. First, it is positively gorgeous - the images just leap off the pages. Second, the essays are more in-depth, engaging, and informative than any other book I've found on the subject. This book discusses every facet of Art Deco as well: it explores the origins at the Paris Exhibition in 1925, goes through the influence in East Asia, Latin America, and South Africa, not to mention Europe. A great chapter on Deco in Hollywood; also explores all of the sources, iconography - and all of this on top of covering every aspect of the movement - ceramics, jewelry, fashion, architecture, glass, photography, graphic design, bookbindings, travel and transport, and so so much more - with stunning visuals.   Glorious deco detail.

  Architectural photographer Carla Breeze has focussed her camera on the best seventy-five Art Deco buildings across the Nation and produced a glorious book of color photos that perfectly captures the style. I really liked this book because she concentrates on the architectural detail of each building (with 450 photos) and in many cases, when this detail is on the outside, it is just not viewable from the ground.The introduction has an interesting eighteen-page photo section dealing with materials: metal, concrete, terra cotta, mosaic, glass, wood and stone. I found this very useful when looking at the images. Each building starts on the spread (though some have more pages) with a street address and some background text and captions for the photos. The elegant layout does not interfere with the wonderful buildings (a tip of the hat to book designer Robert Wiser).   JAZZ AGE BEAUTY

  This is quite simply a fantastic book, the images ara crisp and well presented and the text is easy to navigate. Every major Art Deco building in American is chronicled and presented in its best light. It is such a relief that so many of these great buildings have survived, unlike many other architectural styles, Art Deco has always had a huge throng of admirors, people who loved the style and fought very hard to help preserve it. Everytime I set foot in one of these great buildings, like the Louisiana State Capitol or Radio City Music Hall or the Chrysler Building I am reminded of the shear artistry that went into these buildings and am disappointed at the austere, crass styles that have followed.   This is shown on a support of some kind. What you get is a bunch of loose bottles of nail polish which is really for decorating nails only as the bottles are very thin and the brushes are long, (about 1") and unmanageable except I expect by a professional manicurist.   It's OK

  I had installed a different mural from a different manufacturer (purchased from target.com) before.Good things:(1) The paper on this one is thin. I thought it would rip and be harder to install, but it was actually easier to slide around once placed on the wall to line up the image.(2) I used the glue it came with with no issues. No booking required, yay.(3) they made the "seams" along the window bars for easy line up. Even if you're off a bit, the finished product still looks good.Bad things:(1) you have to trim both sides of the mural to keep the center, which means you have more panels to install(2) the paper is kinda shiny after installation, so the glare makes it less realistic.(3) my room is 10'x10'. I have to be against the far wall to take in the scene and appreciate it. Anywhere else it just looks like dark wallpaper. 3/5 Wendy H.   We bought this because we recently moved to boston and our rental condo had writing on the walls, we skillfully hung it with velcro so we would not be charged with removal.
