  Long time owner, great item!

  I bought this watch in December 2005 to use as a reliable but cheap timepiece during snowmobile tours in Yellowstone National Park. For two years, me and this watch experienced temeratures reaching -20 F plus... though average was probably 15 F. Still, it ran true. I even managed to wash it in my laundry, to no ill.I'm now seeking a new watch, only because I cannot find a way to relplace the battery on this one. And I find myself unwilling to buy a different watch. It has treated me very well for its price, and so, I will buy the same watch for the same price.   One of the best watches I ever had.

  This is a great watch. Very sturdy, and great for those who can't stand wearing the wrist band type watch. I've had mine for quite a few years and have only had to replace the battery one or two times. The rotating timepiece is great for switching it between belt and backpack positions.About the only downside is that the locking pin holes (that keep the timepiece from freely swiveling) tend to get worn down, and about the weakest point on the watch is actially the joint for the carabiner clip, which finally broke on me after years of use.other than that this is a good deal.4.5 stars out of 5. 5/5 Benjamin J.   Good for the money

  I just ordered another one of these. After a year and a half of abuse, what did my last one in was a seatbelt; the belt had worked its way halfway into the clip when I stood up. Anyway, my only problem with this item is the attatchment point for the spring part of the clip. It really should be metal, but for 20 bucks I'll buy another.   Whhhhooooo Wouldn't LOVE These Adorable Time Pieces???

  We purchased these in a bulk purchase at discount for a Guardians Of GaHoole Party. They were an absolute hit with the kids. They are MUCH cuter than we had anticipated and heavier duty than thought. The boys use them as zipper pulls and on their backpacks and the girls use them as charms as well...They are perfect for on backpacks or purses. They have a traditional time piece which is nice for children to use. It is clear and runs nicely. The wings open by pulling the tuft "ears" together - the kids have fun doing this... I think as much fun making it do this over and over than anything else.... We have not had any problems with them opening and shutting despite the hundreds and hundreds of times that the kids do it... These are very nice. I would not hesitate to buy them again. They make great gift pieces. Some of the kids also use them to time themselves reading, and have them attached to book marks they are using to read more Guardians books.   My kid is a maniac

  My kid got into his mind that he wated an owl watch, he is 3. I never thought I would find a watch that had anything to do with owls, but amazon to the rescue! It is pretty well made, all metal and he likes to open and close the wings. Not waterproof but has a clip, I'm sure most buyers would be older and most likely a female- if you clip it on your pursuit will look chute and give the grand kids something to fight over. 4/5 N.   I was really pleasantly surprised with the hefty, substantial feeling of this piece when it arrived. It keeps time perfectly. I bought it for use as a keychain, and I love that it's unique and interesting, but not huge, since I hate having a bulky keychain taking up space in my bag, or looking weird in my pocket. I took off the clip to minimize bulk and just put it right on my keyring. It looks fantastic and it always attracts compliments and comments every time I take it out.   I bought the watch for my job as a mechanic in a beverage plant. We can't wear wrist watches for food safety reasons and this clips onto a belt loop and holds up well in a harsh work environment.The green coating wears off if scraped against hard objects but the six raised dots around the dial do a good job of protecting the crystal from scratches.   Love it

  This watch is the perfect size. I read some reviews that you can't read it in the dark. Hog wash! I just put my hand in front of the light and it reflects with plenty of light to read the watch. Also if you just flash a white light on it it is illuminated for quite a while. It clips on my belt loop and I hardly even know it's there. I had a larger watch that clips on and it kept hitting things and finally broke. This watch does not hit anything and looks new after a month plus one week in the pouring rain hunting in Western Washington. If and when this watch finally dies I am getting another one just like it!   Robust and good looking.

  I stopped wearing a watch a couple of decades ago and never looked back.Someone's always got the time!But I needed something I could use when needed, and this serves that purpose perfectly.It's a little bigger than the pictures look, but still fits snugly into the little change pocket in a pair of jeans.I usually just clip it to the jeans belt loop.The red LED is a bit gimmicky, it doesn't light the watch face but if you bend your hand over it you can see ok, and it lights enough to read something held close.It's extremely robust, which is what I was looking for as I pretty much throw it in a drawer until needed.Also, the carabina clip is very strong so I have no fear of losing it.I thoroughly recommend this product. 5/5 Alan Clarkson-dodds "Alan" (Pacifica, California) - See all my reviews, March 9, 2007

  would not keep time

  This is not a designer watch, but it didn'r cost an arm and a leg either. This is a very heavy duty watch. I really enjoyed the flourescent hands and the pointer on the second hand.   Non-working pocket watch

  I was veriy excited when I received my watch and more so when the correct time was even set. I use it when I docent at the LAZoo. One week later it stopped running. Also, when it was working the second hand didn't move. I bought a new battery, now it doesn't work again.I guess when they say, 'You get what you pay for.' 19.95 wasn't such a good price for the use I got from the watch.   A very nice clip watch.

  I've had my Dakota Backpacker clip watch for over a year now and I'm very satisfied with it. It keeps good time and is durable. The crystal face hasn't sustained any scratches yet.   Avoid at all costs!

  The watch seemed heavy & sturdy, but after a single week in my front pants pocket the hands fell off the face and now float around in the dial! When I contacted Mr.Watch they refused a return or refund because I had worn it for a week, even though it had been less that 2 weeks since I had ordered the product. They forwarded me onto the manufacturer for me to spend lots of money to ship it off to be fixed. All of his for a $27 watch?...crazy.....I just want my $ back. Save your money and yourself a headache and by another brand from another seller.   Dakota Backpacker Watch

  This is a replacement watch for an identical one that I have owned and used for many years. The old one still works, is on it's 4th battery and has had the scratches on it's crystal polished several times but is getting a little crazed and hard to read. If the new one gives me the same service I'll be overjoyed.   The watch arrived when I expected, but I had to go replace the battery (which cost $12). Not sure if they leave these things on forever, but companies usually have some kind of plastic barrier that you can remove to get power (saves battery life). 3/5 A.
