    Inexpensive and quiet

It's very misleading that this product be described as "burl wood" when it's really 100% plastic. Not a bit of wood in there. Looks like plastic, feels like plastic, thin and inexpensive. However, the thing works, it is almost silent (few winders, regardless of price, can claim that) and has several programs to choose from. If it lasts, then I'll be happy. I do wish that Amazon would be more accurate in their descriptions though. 4/5 Michael (Cary, NC United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent value

This is an EXCELLENT value. Just do the research. A DUAL watch winder with four-mode setting for $60 of this quality. Hard, if not impossible to find. I needed the counter-clockwise setting. There is one and that's all I needed. 5/5 Richard D. Thomson - See all my reviews, April 9, 2010

    Great price...Great watch winder

I recieved this watch winder from Amazon awhile back and can't believe how quiet it is. I have to put my ear right next to the winder to hear it run. I have two automatic watches and could not have made a better choice on the looks of the wood and the price. Let your fears fad away on this inexpensive winder. I would put this winder up against winders that cost hundreds of dollars.....Thanks Amazon and Diplomat. 5/5 Harrell E. Hutchinson (Ellabell, Ga. USA) - See all my reviews, May 12, 2010

    maybe once...

When I bought this little kit I was amazed by the price. So many little tools at such a low price is great--unless you can only use them once before your kit has a few broken tools! The only tool in my kit worth owning is probably the hammer; the pin tools for removing band pins are incredibly cheap and slightly oversized for most of the pin holes on my bands. All of my pin tools are now either bent or broken (the blue plastic pin remover is also broken). Unfortunately the list goes on...the knife is very soft metal and burred after a few watches. The screwdrivers are a joke as is the tweezer, the spring bar remover looks like a child ground the 'U'-end so it doesn't grab the bar properly. It's much easier to go to a good hardware store and buy some small drill bits and make your own pin tools---just use hardwood dowels for the handles--and buy some good tweezers, screwdrives, and some new smooth pliers, and you'll have a far better set of tools than this junk! 1/5 M. Watch tools quality and usability.

These tools look just like the higher quality tools available from various watch manufactures and retailers, but they are not just like the higher quality tools.Very cheaply made. Barely usable to size a band. The micro Phillips screwdriver stripped out on the first attempt to use.One of the pin punches bent double on the first attempt to use it. Lucky there are three of them.Don't let the low price fool you, pay the extra $10 for the real professional watch tool set. 1/5 Tera-Ram (Cincinnati, Ohio) - See all my reviews This review is from: 16 PCS Watch Tool Kit (Watch) These tools look just like the higher quality tools available from various watch manufactures and retailers, but they are not just like the higher quality tools.Very cheaply made. Just As Good as Swiss Made

I had actually only ordered the kit for the plastic watch band link remover. I have a Invicta Diver's Watch Model #5017 which closely resembles the Rolex model. I really take my time at doing things slowly and correctly. However, it took me less than ten minutes to push out four link pins with the link removal tool. It is that easy. Simply, line up the top of the pins with the pin remover and carefully turn maybe about three revolutions and instantly it comes out. Note that this Invicta watch had pins with fake screw slots on one side which made me even more careful. However, this proved to be for decorative purposes only since the pins themselves resembled tiny cotter pins which is essentially a piece of wire folded in the middle. I even used the knife case opener on my wife's twenty year old seiko with equal success. Again, this stuff is not Swiss made but in my opinion is a good starter kit which gets the work done correctly. The money I saved can be used for more expensive... 5/5 shutterbug "shutterbug2" - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This is a great knife

I purchased 3 of these (not on Amazon, but Amazon has a better price), and love them. I use a utility knife a lot, and these are ingenious. Cartridge pops in the bottom like an ammo clip in a pistol, and when blade is dull you can either pull it out and flip it over to the un-used side, or leave it out and retract the knife all the way and it grabs a new one out of the cartridge. Much better than the break-away blades that break-away when they aren't supposed to, and also better than taking apart your stanley knife and flipping or replacing the blade. Blades are titanium so stay sharp longer too. Other types of blades are available in the cartridge, but I mainly use the standard blade. 5/5 A Professional Consumer (Peoria, IL USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Clauss SpeedPak Titanium Bonded Cartridge Based Utility Knife With Ten Utility Blades (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased 3 of these (not on Amazon, but Amazon has a better price), and love them. Best utility knife I've used

I really like this knife, I have tried about 4 or 5 other brands and this is by far my favorite. Easier to load blades, switch blade sides and retract than others I have used. Very sturdy and strong also. 5/5 T. Packard - See all my reviews, October 4, 2011

    Excellent concept, good quality!

I give this knife 4.5 out of 5 stars. It's nice and heavy. It doesn't feel like it's going to snap with excessive pressure or shatter from a 20-foot fall. The SpeedPak design is a fantastic idea and makes this knife one versatile little workhorse. I haven't used any other blades than the included titanium ones, but if they're just as good the titanium ones, they'll be excellent. The only reason I didn't give 5 out of 5 is the cartridge inset/remove process isn't very smooth and the retracting tab at the top needs to be in EXACTLY the right position for the cartridge to come in or go out. Other than that, perfect! 5/5 N. Trotic - See all my reviews, February 21, 2010

Great winder for the money - and display, to boot!

I have a number of automatic watches and multi-winders in which they're stored when not worn. However, my prize is the Rolex Datejust SS & Gold watch my late father wore. While it is too precious to wear except on very special occasions, I did not want it locked away in a big cabinet with all of the others. This handy winder with the viewport was the perfect answer. It sits proudly on my credenza in my study, so that I can see the watch whenever I want - and the wonderful memories it evokes. True, it does make a slight sound when rotating. However, for me it is a reminder to let my gaze wonder over to the watch, so the "noise" - such as it is - is a bonus. The slow speed of the winder and the automatic "1-hour-on-and-3-hours-off" helps guard against overwinding. The choice of "clockwise" or "anti-clockwise" rotation is important - some automatics will not wind but one direction. Check your watch manual, your jeweler or the manufacturer to be sure.The... 5/5 Robert Ross "iinsic" (Florida USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works, until it doesn't. If you can solder... it's a keeper.

Had this winder for about two years. It stopped working after about a year, and I thought that was it - get what you pay for. But I refused to buy a 2nd one, or a more expensive one. So I opened it up (to seemingly find nothing wrong), smacked it around and left it in the garage ("dog house") for a month, and it started working again... for a few months, then it didn't, again. Finally, I thought I had nothing else to lose, so I opened it up again. This time I saw the problem. The control chip had one of the wires that were soldered to it that was gradually coming off. This time, it had completely broken off, and wasn't connected to the solder point. The wires are flimsy, but whatever. I re-stripped the wire, soldered it back on, and now it's working like new again. Until, I imagine, the internal movements cause something else to wear down. 3/5 Dustin P. GREAT BUY

I own six diplomat winders including this little gem. It spins a 270 gram watch with no difficulty. I have had mine for four months and keep it near my bed. The movement is soundless and runs like a champ. I have had good success with the diplomat brand of winders as oppossed to the problems some have had with the more expensive brands. A great piece of furniture this is not. It just does the job of keeping your watches wound. Watches with a max band width of 26mm and 50mm case width should fit. 5/5 65gone - See all my reviews This review is from: Diplomat Single Black Watch Winder with Built In IC Timer (Watch) I own six diplomat winders including this little gem. Cheap, but works perfectly.

I got this to keep my Rolex wound when I went on vacation. I have a knock-around watch I use when I am out of the country and I know it is bad to let a self-winding watch stop as the oil pools and other bad things can happen.I was a little concerned because it was so cheap, but when I got it and tried it out it was perfect. They do recommend getting a power timer and having it only run 4 hours a day to keep it from overwinding . . . since one of those outlet times are less than $5, not a big deal. To get one that was completely automatic would have cost 3 times what this one does.It is completely silent, so you could have it in your bedroom. It only goes one direction, either clock-wise or counter. I consulted with my Rolex expert and he said either would work . . . also said that it was impossible to overwind any Rolex made after 1972 as they put in a safety system that stops it from winding more than the spring can take. This is a good buy. 5/5 R. There are probably better watch winders on the market

I needed a single automatic watch winder and didn't want to spend a lot. This fit the bill in that regard. However, it's performance is inconsistent. I have to fiddle with the plug every time I put the watch in it to make sure it runs. If I don't, there's a good chance it's not going to work right. I would spend a little more and get a different automatic watch winder unless you like having to remember to play with the plug every day. 3/5 Christopher Horgan (Daniel Island, SC 29492) - See all my reviews, July 30, 2009

    Fascinating, but flawed

Yes, there are 3,261 photos of Rolex watches, of all types, through the decades, and they are of consistently good quality (albeit small). But this book is rather poorly organized, edited, and proofread, so it will prove to be perhaps more frustrating than rewarding. Buy for the pictures and overview of Rolex history (and to see those beautiful, rare dials), and not for the detailed information about the models (which is often incorrect). 3/5 Adam M. Lots of photos but very little text and many errors

Well here is yet another Rolex book. This one is unfortunately error prone despite the minimal text.Model numbers are transposed in some places and can mislead a person new to Rolex watches. The author makes sweeping statements that are incorrect. E.G. In the first section under GMT II he states that this model was discontinued in 2000. Sorry that I have to disagree as I have a late Z series of this same model (2007)- in fact the Z is the last of the series and sometimes called the STICKS dial. The arrangement of the chapters leaves much to be desired. The same topic comes up again in another part of the book and reason is unclear, perhaps this adds more content? The saving grace of this book is that it has an immense collection of photos of Rolex watches. Many of which are not in any other book. For those looking for a great looking 20 watch case, this one is definitely recommended! But not if you have many chunky watches

I have been needing watch case for 20+ watches and having a good-sized collection, I needed one to be sturdy, attractive looking but most of all, the ability to keep large watches over 44" and some even over 50" in diameter. There are a few watch cases available on Amazon but the reason why I went with this case is the price and its looks. Here are my opinions for this watch box and I hope it helps out others out there.I. AESTHETICSThe case has a shiny Rosewood case. The finish is really well-done and it has a glass see-through window at the top. Although it has its problems, I recommend this book

There are few decent books available about Rolex watches. Therefore, Dowling and Hess' massive tome on the subject is an extremely welcome addition to the subject. Their book is definitely well-researched, producing what is currently the definitive book on Rolex. Brief but informative chapters about some of the most recognizable Rolex designs (e.g., Explorer, Submariner, Daytona, OysterQuartz...) are augmented by beautiful color reproductions of the models they discuss. Furthermore, the authors provide very informative chapters regarding the Perpetual movement, chronometers, and the history of the company. Simply stated, this is THE Rolex book. If you love Rolex, this book is a must. While the book, as a whole, is excellent, there are still some areas that I feel prevent it from being a 5-star book. First, the chapters could have been expanded to include more information about the watches. For example, the chapter on the Sumariner and Sea-Dweller (Ch. 12), while... 4/5 Michael Chung (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews, August 14, 1999

Excellent resource, though not 100% accurate

James Dowling et al have written one of the best books on Rolex watches available. Though not 100% accurate, it is well worth the wealth of information. If you like pictures of Rolex watches, this book is for you. Never have I seen so many interesting pics of Wilsdorf creations. If you're looking for a less expensive and smaller book chock full of Rolex data (no pics), then you might consider The Rolex Reference Guide - 2nd Edition by Charlie Jarman. But if you want gloss and in depth Rolex history, buy Dowling's book. Heck, go ahead and buy both! 4/5 0, April 8, 2000

Great Rolex reference, but not much in updates for 3rd edition

For a comprehensive Rolex history with pictures, this is one of the best books out there. I definitely recommend this book for the Rolex enthusiast. Because it focuses mostly on history, the pictures are mostly of vintage models.I own the 2nd edition (published 2001) and was excited when I saw the 3rd edition available (published 2006). I thought maybe there would be updates on the newer watches especially the 50th Anniversary Submariner and Day-Date (the green ones). To my disappointment, the 2nd and 3rd editions appeared to be identical except for the price guide at the end of the book. Yes, it's nice to have updated numbers, but I feel an updated edition should mention some updated watches as well.A printing error on page 383 was not corrected in this 3rd edition either. That page shows a picture of an upside down Seadweller, but the print below the picture says "The Yachtmaster."If you already own the 2nd edition and don't care for an... 4/5 0, August 19, 2007

    sharp-looking for the price

It's an unassuming, elegant display case that feels pretty sturdy for the price point. It's not ment to be luxurious, which is ideal for showcasing the watches and having their dials stand out. It is also rather elegant for the price, although the sh./& handling cost was ridiculous. Still, now five of my watches look very sharp. Great item for begginer watch collectors like me. 3/5 H. Best Buy for the Money

For the price, this is the best deal going. One would have difficulty finding a comparable winder at the local jewelry or watch repair shop at this price point. I have two of these winders and they have been flawless in their performance. I use them to keep my Omega Speedmaster, Tag Heuer Monaco, Invicta Pro Diver and an off-brand (China Movement) Rousseau. They have the same features and electrics as some of the more costly winders; the key differences being the polystyrene casing used in this unit vice hand made woods, veneers fabrics and leathers found on luxury end models. For the budget minded, this is the way to go. 4/5 Kevin Frey (Virginia Beach) - See all my reviews, June 29, 2010

    Does the job

I have several automatic watches and needed a watch winder without breaking the bank, and this item fits the bill. Pretty simple setup and operation, just mount two watches and turn it on. You can set the winding duration from 33 seconds to 1 hour as well as setting the watch rotation to clockwise, random, or counter clockwise. It is extremely quite, you can't hear it when it is rotating the watches. It is made of plastic, so not as nice looking as the more expensive winders made of wood, but it does the job. I'm pretty happy with it so far. 4/5 A. Lasam (Burbank, CA United States) - See all my reviews, January 11, 2010

Does the job and priced right.

This it the best deal I could find on a cost per watch basis. It works just fine, and it would be silly to give it any less than 5 stars. However, I now see what appears to be the exact same item with the Belocia brand name instead of Diplomat for $8 less. I just ordered one, so we'll see. 5/5 Randy Lee (Richmond, CA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Diplomat Double Metallic Silver / Black Watch Winder with Built In IC Timer (Watch) This it the best deal I could find on a cost per watch basis.
