    Best Dive Watch Value

Invicta's 8928 is a two tone model of the dive watch that started it all - the 8926! The watch utilizes 23k gold plate which wears rather well on the crown and bezel - less so on the bracelet for an overall look rivaling the Rolex Submariner. Let's take a tour of this $100 price range diving watch and note the value and style of the timepiece:MovementThe Citizen Miyota 21 jewel movement rivals Swiss automatic movements for a fraction of the price. If it has any weakness - it is in the small power reserve - losing it's mainspring energy with less than one day off the wrist. IF not worn everyday- it should be put on a programmable watch winder or manually wound. The second hand will not "hack" with this movement. A date (complication) window shows at the 3 o'clock position. It must be manually adjusted every February and other 30 day months.CaseThe 43mm (with crown) 316L brushed stainless steel case wears comfortably on the wrist. The case... 5/5 Michael Horn "mikie" (US Army Combat Support Training Center, Dublin, CA) - See all my reviews, September 28, 2005

Nice design for a watch at this price, but the movement is junk

It's a great watch for the price. I think I paid $130 for it. Sure, the swiss 25 jewel movement version is nicer, but I thought I'd try the lower-end 21 jewel. It runs great, keeps good time, and is probably one of the best watches you can get for the money. High quality work, very close in look/feel/weight to a R*lex. We'll have to see how the gold plating wears over time, but other than that, it's a great watch.EDIT: Had to change my review, the movement has been giving me problems, first I couldn't quick-set the date, now the hands jump when trying to set the time, and the second hand stops on me even when it's running. The case, the band, everything else is top notch for a $150 watch, but the cheap automatic movement really ruins it. In my opinion, get the one with the 25jewel swiss movement, and pay the extra $100. I have to send mine back for a warranty repair, and wish I would have bought the other one first. 4/5 S. Love the watch, not the performance

I have owned two of this style Invicta Watch, and although I love the style and appearance, both have had problems. I thought the first was just a lemon, and although the second is better, both have trouble when you take them off, sometimes just long enough to change clothes or take a shower. Both have stopped working even when I keep them on over night. One vendor recommended winding the stem before putting them on each day, but all other automatic watches have had enough charge to keep on ticking. Perhaps I got spoiled by my first Seiko, which performed flawlessly for over 25 years. 3/5 Thomas H. Canar (Clovis, California) - See all my reviews, June 3, 2005

    Should be More Expensive

I am very impressed with Invicta style and quality. They offer well-made watches at a very competitive price. I own seven Invicta watches and love each of them. They have the look and feel of a much more expensive watch. This particular model looks almost identical to a Rolex Submariner. It is an automatic watch (if you don't wear it for around 24 hours or move around enough, the time must be reset) with 21 jewel Japanese movement and has a see through back that lets you view the automatic movement. The watch has a large 43mm face and it has Mercedes style hands and Tritnite luminescence markings with a magnified date marker. It is water resistant to 200 meters (just in case any of you will go down that far). The one pictured above has an oyster-like bezel (Omega style). The older (Series 1 or S1) model of the 8926 have a coin edge bezel like the Rolex Submariner. The bezel rotates. Invicta makes really attractive bands that have a nice weight. The... 5/5 E. Best Diver Watch Value

Invicta's 8926 is the dive watch that started it all - the watch that kept Invicta from going out of business - like other Swiss watch making firms did as Oriental made quartz watches flooded the shelves of retailers worldwide in the 1980's! For an overall look rivaling the Rolex Submariner at 1/15 the cost, Invicta provides a $100 automatic diver with stainless steel bracelet unrivaled in quality and performance. Excellent First Watch!

The Invicta 8926 is typically considered an entry level watch, or a "beater" alternative to other more expensive watches in your collection to be worn for everyday tasks. It typically ranks as one of the best selling watches, and provides a nice foray into automatic watches. [...]First Impression:When the box arrived from Amazon, I was pleasantly greeted by Invicta's signature cheese-yellow box. The watch was delicately wrapped, and packed well in the case. Invicta's instruction manual was thorough, and read like it was written by someone that speaks English as a first language. The included warranty card and polishing cloth were also nice touched. I have a small wrist, so when I first put it on, it hung very loose off of my arm. The weight was also unexpected for a watch at this price point. It felt very substantial. After a few minutes, I headed out to the local jeweler to have things sized for daily wear.Cost:Typically found below... 5/5 Daniel K. Invicta's overlooked dive watch

Purchasing the #8932 Invicta dive watch for a family member Christmas present - I've come away very much impressed. The 8932 apparently shares the case, crystal mineral glass watchface, screwdown crown and elegent lightweight stainless steel bracelet with it's more expensive automatic movement 8926 sibling. Matter of factly - it is hard to tell the difference between this watch and Invicta's $300+ 9937 Swiss ETA powered automatic diver without close inspection. It is my humble opinion that Invicta is the leader of the affordable price dive watch market - including such giants as Seiko and Citizen - OK maybe even Casio. Invicta does not have the brand name awareness of the public and large commercial outlets to display their wonderful dive watches. Once you've purchased an Invicta Pro-Diver series watch - you will be a fan. The fit, finish, overall quality and design make this watch a model you should consider as a price range leader.Case: The 316L brushed... 4/5 Michael Horn "mikie" (US Army Combat Support Training Center, Dublin, CA) - See all my reviews, December 11, 2005

Case diameter is 39mm, not 43mm like the 8926

(EDIT: Amazon now has the specs correctly listed at 37mm diameter.)Amazon's description is wrong on the case diameter. I bought this watch and the 8926 automatic thinking they were the same size (43mm with crown). Not so, this watch is quite a bit smaller on the wrist, not as heavy(no automatic movement), and the unidirectional bezel is much more loose and cheap feeling. The model # on the back of this watch is 8932AThe 8926 is a MUCH nicer watch and has been on sale for 70 at various times. 3/5 Mac-Tendo Guy (WI United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I'm very disappointed

I recieved this watch yesterday and I was very excited. This was not my first Invicta, I've been very impressed with their watches. After I got it home, I put a rubber band on it and then started setting the time. I first noticed that the bezel is very difficult to turn. I thought if I kept working it, it would loosen up. It hasn't so far. Next I noticed that the time keeps stopping periodically. I know it's a quartz, but even early on I expected the watch to keep running in the beginning. Then I look at the warranty card. I admit this is the first time I've had to, and I notice that Invicta wants a $25 check for return shipping. They send me a defective watch and they want money to essentially fix it. I don't think so.....I'm used to very quality from Invicta, so I am very disappointed in this watch. 1/5 Cindy E. Although it has its problems, I recommend this book

There are few decent books available about Rolex watches. Therefore, Dowling and Hess' massive tome on the subject is an extremely welcome addition to the subject. Their book is definitely well-researched, producing what is currently the definitive book on Rolex. Brief but informative chapters about some of the most recognizable Rolex designs (e.g., Explorer, Submariner, Daytona, OysterQuartz...) are augmented by beautiful color reproductions of the models they discuss. Furthermore, the authors provide very informative chapters regarding the Perpetual movement, chronometers, and the history of the company. Simply stated, this is THE Rolex book. If you love Rolex, this book is a must. While the book, as a whole, is excellent, there are still some areas that I feel prevent it from being a 5-star book. First, the chapters could have been expanded to include more information about the watches. For example, the chapter on the Sumariner and Sea-Dweller (Ch. 12), while... 4/5 Michael Chung (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews, August 14, 1999

Excellent resource, though not 100% accurate

James Dowling et al have written one of the best books on Rolex watches available. Though not 100% accurate, it is well worth the wealth of information. If you like pictures of Rolex watches, this book is for you. Never have I seen so many interesting pics of Wilsdorf creations. If you're looking for a less expensive and smaller book chock full of Rolex data (no pics), then you might consider The Rolex Reference Guide - 2nd Edition by Charlie Jarman. But if you want gloss and in depth Rolex history, buy Dowling's book. Heck, go ahead and buy both! 4/5 0, April 8, 2000

Great Rolex reference, but not much in updates for 3rd edition

For a comprehensive Rolex history with pictures, this is one of the best books out there. I definitely recommend this book for the Rolex enthusiast. Because it focuses mostly on history, the pictures are mostly of vintage models.I own the 2nd edition (published 2001) and was excited when I saw the 3rd edition available (published 2006). I thought maybe there would be updates on the newer watches especially the 50th Anniversary Submariner and Day-Date (the green ones). To my disappointment, the 2nd and 3rd editions appeared to be identical except for the price guide at the end of the book. Yes, it's nice to have updated numbers, but I feel an updated edition should mention some updated watches as well.A printing error on page 383 was not corrected in this 3rd edition either. That page shows a picture of an upside down Seadweller, but the print below the picture says "The Yachtmaster."If you already own the 2nd edition and don't care for an... 4/5 0, August 19, 2007

Great product, but the lower-end ones may be the one for you.

This watch is very good for 300 dollars. It resembles the Rolex Submariner very closely. It is very sturdy and heavy and I love it a lot.The band of this watch feels sturdy and heavy. It is huge! The links are big. The center links are polished which gives it a more fancier look. It is a scratch magnet if you're not careful, but you can always polish it down again. Or you can brush it down to give it a more Submariner look. When I first saw the back of this watch, it was incredible. I've never seen a Swiss automatic movement in person before, although it's through the crystal, it's beautiful! It's fun talking to my dad about the back of this watch and it's movement. I told him "You can see right there it says 26 jewels Swiss Made on the mechanism." Although on the crystal, it says Swiss Movement. That's because the movement itself is Swiss Made, but the watch itself isn't. But to me that's all the same! Invicta 9937OB Review

I have owned the Invicta 9937OB for about 9 months now and I am generally pleased with the good quality of this Rolex Submariner tribute watch. The following comments are based on my research, experience and opinions about this watch. The OB in the model number stands for "old bezel." This is the coin-edge bezel that Invicta produced prior to their adoption of the scalloped bezel used in many of their present diver's watch models. Personally I prefer the coin-edge bezel, as it is easier to grip and turn than the scalloped bezel Invictas. This watch has a Sellita SW200, Swiss made, automatic movement--a copy of the proven and reliable ETA 2824-2 Swiss automatic movement. The Sellita SW200 is a 26-jewel movement where as the ETA 2824-2 movement has 25 jewels. I've read that Sellita put in the extra jewel to be different (marketing reasons) and claims the extra jewel increases the power reserve of the movement. The Sellita appears to be a good copy of the ETA... 4/5 Roger Burton "Steady" (Fresno, CA, USA) - See all my reviews, May 3, 2009

Excellent coverage from two experts who know their subject.

There is so much more to a Rolex watch than just excellent craftsmanship. As a scuba diver of almost 40 years standing, I have always owned one or more quality diving watches. When my son turned 14, he also learned to dive and soon became the proud owner of a good diving watch. Whilst, sadly, none were Rolex, my son's interest in diving watches had begun and now, some 15 years later, he has a modest collection coupled with an appreciable knowledge of the subject. Only recently, he advised someone who was selling a certain vintage Rolex model via the internet that the item was very likely to be worth a lot more than the, then, asking price and deserved further investigation. As a result, the price was increased by something in the region of £48,000 before the watch was finally sold. I mention this to underline the fact that there are some extremely valuable historic watches out there with the occasional rare model commanding really serious money. This book is a revised and... 5/5 Ned Middleton (British professional underwater photo-journalist & author) - See all my reviews, December 23, 2010

Note this review is for a purchase made directly from Amazon, not a 3rd party.I've had my watch for just over a year now, and love it. I knew going into this that the service was 3rd party via Amazon and not direct from Tag, but based on the savings was willing to chance it. I've tried to contact the vendor twice via web form / email (there is no phone # or direct email address) and they haven't responded at all. At this juncture I have no idea if they have the watch, are fixing it, or if / when I will ever get it back, etc. .For potential buyers of this (or any watch with Amazon service) I would say buyer beware, and make sure you have another watch to wear as a back up.Good luckupdate - now the email alias for the service provider is bouncingcontacted amazon customer service to see if they can helpsubmitted Swinford Jewelers to BBB 3/5 Derek Slayton "d_rick" (Silicon Valley, CA USA) - See all my reviews, December 12, 2011

Tag Heuer Aquaracer bought through Amazon

Overall I am very happy with the product and having saved $1500 by buying from Amazon I can certainly not complain. Australia retail is $3100 and after taxes I paid $1625 from Amazon, so I am thrilled with the savings. This was my first buy from Amazon and was therefore ignorant of what to expect. I was surprised that Amazon do not use up to date currency conversion (the AUD was worth 98.5 cents US at the time of purchase but Amazon converted at 94 cents) so when buying an expensive item you notice the difference. I was also not prepared for taxes that were $147 but I am very happy that Amazon tagged it on to the upfront expense rather than have a nasty surprise on arrival. This review is from: TAG Heuer Men's WAJ2110.BA0870 Aquaracer Automatic 500M Calibre 5 Watch (Watch) Overall I am very happy with the product and having saved $1500 by buying from Amazon I can certainly not complain. Fascinating, but flawed

Yes, there are 3,261 photos of Rolex watches, of all types, through the decades, and they are of consistently good quality (albeit small). But this book is rather poorly organized, edited, and proofread, so it will prove to be perhaps more frustrating than rewarding. Buy for the pictures and overview of Rolex history (and to see those beautiful, rare dials), and not for the detailed information about the models (which is often incorrect). 3/5 Adam M. Lots of photos but very little text and many errors

Well here is yet another Rolex book. This one is unfortunately error prone despite the minimal text.Model numbers are transposed in some places and can mislead a person new to Rolex watches. The author makes sweeping statements that are incorrect. E.G. In the first section under GMT II he states that this model was discontinued in 2000. Sorry that I have to disagree as I have a late Z series of this same model (2007)- in fact the Z is the last of the series and sometimes called the STICKS dial. The arrangement of the chapters leaves much to be desired. The same topic comes up again in another part of the book and reason is unclear, perhaps this adds more content? The saving grace of this book is that it has an immense collection of photos of Rolex watches. Many of which are not in any other book. But here too the author has missed a great opportunity to add value to his book, in many cases, under the photos he has failed to give a model... 1/5 Ozlanka "Ozlanka" (Japan) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Double Watch Winder

This is by far the best deal on a watch winder yet. It runs quiet. I have it in the same room as our desktop computer and I can't hear it over the computer cooling fan. So I would rate the sound quality in the excellent to very good range. The overall construction is molded plastic, but for the price point that is fine. The watch holders are very functional and have a nice spring tension mechanism that holds the watches in place. I have a relatively small wrist and it accomodates my watches without any problems. The unit rotates at approximately 6 rotations per minute. Based on this, each mode of operation runs as follows:Position A = 344 RPDPosition B = 864 RPDPosition C = 1234 RPDPosition D = 2468 RPDRPD (rotations per day)This winder also has three seperate rotating positions: CW/Auto/CCW. In all this is a great buy and a must for anyone with a few automatic watches in the... 5/5 T. Shadle (Quad Cities, IL) - See all my reviews, February 27, 2007

    Better than expected....

Due to the fact that these 'little machines" are cheaply made , i didnt have great expectations......."you get what you paid for"........was i so wrong!!.....this watch winder is outstanding!!......a beautiful design, extremely quiet, quality materials and it actually works!!!........i couldnt be happier. The price for this item is more than reasonable , you couldnt get a better deal. If you have more than one automatic watch this winder is a must!!! 5/5 Luis Torregrosa - See all my reviews, July 29, 2006

    Great bargain!!!

I have been using this watch winder for a month now. I am extremely pleased with it. The fuzzy logic function for turning off and on, and the ability to change direction is unheard of for this price. Before buying this winder, I purchased one that was four times the price, and it was loud and stopped working after a couple of weeks. This product is extremely quiet, and easy to operate. The only complaint I have is with the instructions. I wish they were a little more illustrated. I would highly recommend this procuct to the watch enthusist on a budget. It looks really cool on my dresser also. I purchased two of them and placed them side by side. Four watch winders for one hundred bucks. Cant beat it!!!Update: I have had the winders for allmost a year now and they have been working flawlesly. I turn them off for at least 8 hours a day to extend the life of the motors and so far have had no problems out of them. 5/5 Weaver Jones (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews, June 25, 2008

    Perfect Choice

I had considered purchasing the watch from a jeweler just for the sake of having the Tag warrenty. After reviewing the warrenty Amazon offers aside the Tag warrenty there wasn't a big difference in what would be covered, and they were both 2 years in length, so I decided to save $600.00 and go with Amazon. So glad I did! The watch is gorgeous and it was packaged in the lovely Tag box with all the Tag care instructions. Aquaracer Quartz Alarm

I have owned my Aquaracer for about 8 months now and it has proven to be very accurate and reliable. Several reviewers on different sites have complained about the alarm feature and at first it confused me too. After CAREFULLY reading the manual I realized that it is normal for the alarm hands to rotate when pulling out the stem to set the time on the watch. This is part of the alarm synchronization procedure. After setting the time the alarm needs to be synchronized to the time set. This is done while the watch is still in time set mode with the crown pulled all the way out. Then just hold the alarm button in till the alarm hands show exactly the same time as the watch hands. When the crown is pushed back in the alarm hands return to their previously set position and are synchronized. Once this is done the alarm is accurate to the second. I have never before seen an analog watch with an alarm that sounded on the second.I am quite impressed with the quality of... 5/5 G.
