    Quiet 2-speed fan works great

I purchased this fan for my daughter because her west-facing room gets especially hot in the evenings, even with A/C on. We had another fan that was too loud for her and that vibrated terribly when we placed it up high enough so she could feel the wind from it. This fan was the perfect solution! We clipped it on her bed and she can adjust it herself from off to high or low. It is the quietest fan in our house by far and she can still hear her Mozart good night music, which we play quietly, over the fan. The fan is easy to angle or adjust as well and the clip is strong once you've placed it so it stays in place. We are really happy with this purchase and my husband who can't stand to hear a pin drop is considering getting one for himself.Update: We ordered a second one in 2011 and it is not identical to the one we ordered in 2008, but it is still effective, though somewhat less quiet. 5/5 Sara (Altamont, NY, United States) - See all my reviews, July 27, 2008

    Very good fan-doesn't rust.

I have two of these fans which run 24 hours/day in a greenhouse. Other fans start to rust within about 3 months, and after a year the grills are falling apart and the fan is useless (even though the motor still works). In the greenhouse, I water for about 3 minutes each day, and the fans do get some water on them. The first fan has been there for about 1.5 years, and still works fine, and NO RUST. This is a very good fan, even though it is a little pricey. 5/5 Robert L. Montgomery "vpic" (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews, July 22, 2006

    Air King Floor Fan 9220

We purchased this fan for use in our church's parish hall, specifically to work in conjunction with the air conditioning. It does an excellent job, even on the low setting; on medium and high, it creates a virtual wind tunnel. It's not whisper-quiet like smaller fans intended for household use, but neither is it as loud as many of the other commercial fans we looked at. Solidly built (and made in America - always a plus!), this fan is exactly what we were looking for. If you need something that will circulate air in a large room, the Air King 9220 would be a fine choice. 5/5 littlegull (Glendale, NY United States) - See all my reviews We purchased this fan for use in our church's parish hall, specifically to work in conjunction with the air conditioning. Good enough

We have three of these fans in a server room to blow air around a dead spot, they move allot of air but are not balanced well and if they are not strapped into place they will soon vibrate themselves across the room. We've had them for over two years and one is now dead. The vibration overcame the strength of the metal cage around the fan blade and at points around where the motor is attached to the cage the bars have snapped. So after 15,000 hours the motor is still fine but it is no longer attached to the cage. Time for a new fan. 3/5 Joseph P. Schmidt (Brown Deer, WI United States) - See all my reviews, June 13, 2011

Disappointing Performance for a 20" Fan

Air King has had a 20", model 9166 for quite awhile. I bought my original in 1998. It filled the important niche between an industrial strength attic fan and a smaller lightweight window fan. In 2004 the original plastic fan blade failed, but fortunately I was able to obtain a replacement. That model 9166 continued in service until last month when it screeched to a stop with a seized "lubricated for life" bearing and another cracked plastic blade. The new model 9166D (under review) was purchased as a direct replacement. While the new 9166 now has an aluminum blade, unfortunately it has a weaker smaller motor, resulting in inferior performance. The old 9166 had a quiet low speed of 520 RPM that moved a respectable 4160 CFM. The new 9166's low speed is a noisy 1100 RPM, but at that speed it only moves 2510 CFM. So at that twice the speed it moves only a little more than half the air.Air King's 9166D specifications tell the story of the weaker performance. King of the Air!

Customer Video Review Length:: 0:59 MinsI'm Kelly Thomas, I own http://www.SIHomeTours.com Installation was quick, easy and a big red sticker told me to reverse the side panels as well as the first line in the instruction manual. I'm also pleased to see the all metal construction, this fan is built to last. (plastic blades will flex and your cfm will drop.) Yea, it's noisy at full speed but I've got some light weather stripping that'll be perfect to significantly reduce the vibrations. We'll mostly run it at low speed anyway which still moves 2510 CFM. In contrast, we recently purchased TWO $8.00 twin plastic window fans from a local big box on closeout, [ regular price ~$20.00+, very much like, the Holmes HAWF2030 ] and those things are not worth spit!! The Air King will just about suck the cat through the door from across the room! I'm confident that my Air King was well worth the money. 5/5 K. Terrible Customer Service!

I purchased this fan several weeks ago through another Internet company (amazon.com doesn't carry). When it worked, it was great. But for some reason, it burned out after only a few weeks of use. I contacted the manufacturer about warranty service- from the first contact, all I got was hostility from them. Was there a power surge? Was it plugged in properly? Did you try different outlets? Finally, they told me to send in the receipt and they would send a new motor. So I sent it in, and a few days later, another person called me and told me that I hadn't set up a Warranty Claim. I told her I had spoken to someone already- she said I was lying, and told me that I would have to ship the entire fan to them, and that the engineers would determine if the problem was my fault, and may or may not fix the problem. I've never been treated so rudely by a so-called 'customer service' department. A welcome upgrade over the old noisemaker

Bought the 90 cfm/2.5 sones unit to replace the builder's grade 50 cfm/4+ sones. The additional airflow was noticeable and the noise wasn't - just what I needed. The frame is all plastic, which means no rust, though seeing how the bracket, motor, and motor mount is steel, I wouldn't place too much value on that aspect. The box is more rigid than the typical bent steel box, however, so there is value in that - no rattles.Installation was a snap - literally. These units have a separate bracket that you screw into the joist, then snap the unit into place from below. It's much easier than the usual small-flange-at-the-edge mounting that other units use. Indeed, I spent less time installing this unit versus removing the old (working in a cramped attic space, nails to pry out, etc.) A plastic grommet and 3 wire nuts are included too - a nice touch. The included materials note that ventilation fans have a 5 year warranty, not just a 1 year, so the... 5/5 K. Great fan, troubled installation

It took me less than 2 minutes to remove the old fan and over 2 hours to install this Air King. I am very happy with the quiet, functional fan but the design of the fan made for a difficult installation. The design of this fan could have easily been slightly different and allowed for a much easier installation. After cutting a minimum size hole, I was unable to maneuver it from above or below and get it into the snap bracket. I finally found that if I remove the connector from the body that hooks up to the hose it can be inserted from below, but you still have to go into the attic to re-attach the hose connector and hose.Had the connector been directed away from the bracket instead of to the side, it is possible it could have been installed completely from below. Now that it's installed, I do enjoy this Air King fan. The air exhaust is superior to what I had before and much quieter. It is an excellent fan. 4/5 Onoñdaʔgegáʔ★ (Texas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) AirKing bath fan

Yesterday I received the AirKing bath fan and decided to install it right after work. I had an old air king from 1967 which had to come out. That took me 2 hours and a mess to do. Then I realized that the original duct was only 3" in diameter while the recently purchaced AirKing was 4" in diameter. I picked up a 4" to 3" converter and snaped the whole thing together in 30 minutes! No more loud noise. As Advertized. A Quality made, all metal, heavy duty fan. Works great and pushes a large amount of air.. No noisier then any other fan of this size. For mounting one can use a large lag screw or bolt depending on where or how your are using. Also comes with a safety wire and clips incase the lag screw fails or the mounting frame? I used a large bolt to mount and drilled a couple extra holes for a couple smaller bolts for extra security. Excellent heavy duty chord, 3 speed fan.. 5/5 S. Great Personal Fan

This is a very well made little fan. I run it on low speed, and it makes no sound whatsoever, but gives a gentle cooling breeze in my overheated office (it's always 76-77o). If there were anything to change about it, it would be to put the controls on the front (where I can reach them) rather than the rear, but this is a minor issue. 5/5 EarthFire "Dave" (Washington, DC USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Table Fan

The fan is quiet and ideal to circulate air in any small area. It is perfect on the kitchen table or even a shelf area. It has two speeds located on the back dial of the unit. Simple and Quiet

As most of the other reviewers mentioned, this fan is exceptionally quiet, at least on the low setting, which is what I use. It is a simple fan and seems fairly well built. The base is very light, but the fan is stable and does not vibrate none-the-less. The price is fairly high for a simple, 6" fan, but better to pay it than to buy a piece of junk for half the price. By the way, this fan does not oscillate. 4/5 Scott D. Stephens (Chicago area) - See all my reviews, August 4, 2009

I'm a Fan Of This Product

OK, I admit the title is a little corny, but I was not in any way disappointed with this fan when it arrived. It is obviously well made, has 3 speeds and moves a lot of air. I mounted it on a wall in my workshop to help me cope with the hot, muggy weather we have here in Florida during spring and summer. You can stand a good 15 to 20 ft. away from it and still feel a breeze, which is exactly what I wanted. It can be mounted with the bracket horizontal for up and down adjustment, or vertical for side-to-side adjustment. It only has one mounting bolt hole in the bracket, which seemed a little strange but I used a 7/16" bolt (I believe the manufacturer recommended a 3/8" bolt) and it is solid with no noticeable vibration at the higest speed. You can hear it when its running but for the amount of air it moves I think the noise level is very acceptable. If you need air movement in a large room, you can't go wrong with this fan. 5/5 J. Nice quiet fan, but poorly designed mounting system

This fan works well (and quietly!) once installed... but the installation is the challenge. I was replacing and existing 35-year old metal Air King exhaust fan. This fan mounts to the side of a ceiling joist using a thin metal L-shaped bracket. The side of the bracket, with a lip to hang the fan bottom, is flush with the ceiling and nailed to the beam. The top of the bracket extends several inches, and catches on a tab extending out of the top of the fan housing. The theory is that you hook the side of the bracket with the fan bottom, and swing up until the top snaps in place. In practice however, it doesn't work. First the duct connection extends past the side of the housing, meaning that you'd have to cut an extras two inches of ceiling out if you were to "swing" this into place in existing construction. (It might be removable, but that would defect the purpose somewhat). It is difficult if not impossible to hang the fan from above with the bracket already attached. And... 3/5 RZG - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Very Quiet. Perfect for Small Bathroom that has a standing shower.

Very Quiet. Very Easy to install. Although I had someone else do the install, but he did it pretty quick. Only a little sheetrock had to be cut. Very Quiet. Almost Zero noise. I find it very efficient. Good Buy. 5/5 J. Lobo "J Lo" (Edison) - See all my reviews, June 18, 2010

    works good after fixing

The fan came out of the box, was installed only to find that the blade assembly rubbed against the exhaust cylinder's framing so bad it kept the fan blade from turning. After un-installing, taking the fan completely apart, and re-seating the motor/blade assembly (turning it 180 degrees), did it work correctly. It now runs 24x7 and is very quite - exactly what we needed. Much like anything else - you get what you pay for. Though the fan is functional and quite, it's cost effectiveness must come out of the manufacturer's quality control budget. 3/5 William Ryan Hankey "ryan" (TN. The best -- indeed one of the only -- whole-house window fans on the market these days!

SUMMARY: 5/5 stars - glad I bought it, would enthusiastically recommend it to friends, and would not hesitate to buy one again-----This Lasko model 2155A window fan - also sold as the Air King model 9155 - is a real blessing for me. I live in the deep South (Georgia) where the oppressive summer heat index (high heat + near-100%-humidity) often reaches into the 130s and above - and I don't have air conditioning. For me, a large whole-house window fan like this one makes all the difference between comfort and living hell when July and August roll around (it's July 27th as I write this, and I'm sitting right next to the window with the fan in it). This is truly a WHOLE-HOUSE window fan, and it costs so much less to operate than an air conditioner. Compared with central A/C, I'm saving over a hundred dollars a month, which is over $600 a year EVERY YEAR. That's money better spent elsewhere! With this high-volume fan, I get my whole house cooled, without... 5/5 Pierce Phillips (Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Air King 9155 Storm Guard Window Fan, 16-Inch (Kitchen) SUMMARY: 5/5 stars - glad I bought it, would enthusiastically recommend it to friends, and would not hesitate to buy one again-----This Lasko model 2155A window fan - also sold as the Air King model 9155 - is a real blessing for me. Better, But Pricy

This fan is very similar to the Lasko 16" window fan but with a higher CFM output. I could tell just by standing in the exhaust stream outside the window. I'm just not yet convinced that the considerable difference in price is worth the additional CFM's, but I needed something quick when temps went north of 90 degrees. Note that I was very interested in the Air King model 1966 which is designed more for commercial use. The unit would have barely fit my window and the increased noise would have been an issue in my dining room [I don't have an upstairs or attic window for this purpose].So, we established that the output is satisfying. That said, this fan as well as every other window fan that I have owned [and I've owned a few] all suffer from the same affliction: THE HOUSING. They're all plastic and all the same. And no matter how you snug it down, no matter how you secure it, sooner or later it is going to rattle. Sometimes it's subtle and sometimes it's not. It is a very... 3/5 Paul A. An almost perfect window fan

We live in Michigan where for all but a week or two in the summer, even when the days are hot, nights are cool. We didn't want to start tearing out the plaster ceiling of our ca1925 house to put in a whole house fan so when our 30+ year old window fan died, we needed something that would actually move air. This fan does move a lot of air but it's not perfect. Just almost.Pros:- Moves a ton of air- Switch between intake and exhaust just by turning the dial- Energy usage is excellent - rated 61 watts on the low speed, 90 watts on the high.- It's light (see cons)- Made in the USACons:- It's made of fairly flimsy plastic. When we take this out of the window, unless it's laid flat, when it's put back in the window, a clicking noise will occur for awhile. The plastic is obviously flexing when it's propped up without being supported on both sides by the window. At times, if you don't position it... 4/5 CJ (St Clair Shores, MI) - See all my reviews This review is from: Air King 9155 Storm Guard Window Fan, 16-Inch (Kitchen) We live in Michigan where for all but a week or two in the summer, even when the days are hot, nights are cool. GRIFFIN SEGREANT blue Tee Shirt

gryphons, griffins, mythology, fantasy, graphic,
The Griffin (Greek gryphos, Persian ??????? shirdal "lion-eagle") (also very often spelled gryphon and, less commonly, gryphen, griffon, griffen, or gryphin) is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. As the lion was considered the "King of the Beasts" and the eagle the "King of the Air", the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. The griffin is generally represented with four legs, wings and a beak, with eagle-like talons in place of a lion's forelegs and feathered, equine-like ears jutting from its skull. Some traditions say that only female griffins have wings. Some writers describe the tail as a serpent. See the entry Saint George and the Dragon for a 19th century painting of St George and the dragon, showing a dragon very like a classically-conceived griffin. Classical and heraldic griffins are male and female. A "male" griffin, called a keythong in a single 15th century English heraldic manuscript, is an anomaly that belongs strictly to a late phase of English heraldry.
